Pediatric Autism

I'm a novice on cannabis and how to use it. Mixing the THC and CBD in tincture form. (Not interested in vaping or smoking) Is there an easy to understand web site or book that I could read to understand more about it. I'm trying to help my son who has high functioning Autism with alot of depression and anxiety. On top of that he almost died from Sepsis a few years back and he's never been the same since. Really would appreciate your help.

  • You should read these links. Then if you decide the benefit for you and your child outweigh the risk you should proceed with low dosing and monitoring to see what the response is in your child. I would recommend you get a whole plant based tincture that clearly tells you how many mg of THC are in each dropperful. Start dosing very low and see how responds. Adults low dosing THC start around 2.5 mg. I would calculate out an even lower starting dose and see the response and go from there.

Remember most tincture bottles have 1 oz/30 mL. Droppers are usually 1 mL. You can do the math to see how many mg per dropper or volume :)

  • Thank you so much for the information. I read it all. Forgive me for not mentioning that my son is 23 years old. We talked to you briefly on Eaze and you gave him his recommendation. He has been taking the CBD tincture 300 mg bottle and we just this week started a THC 200 mg bottle. I've tried all kinds of dosages throughout the day but we don't notice any change but sleepiness by evening. (Which is one big plus. He has major sleeping issues) Still nervous, still uninspired by anything.(He is almost savant which he feels is wasting cause he cant motivate himself to do wonderful projects that he wants to do). Anytime he gets a little adrenaline he gets nervous. Its a Catch 22. Do you think adding Sativa would make him more nervous?. Incidentally we have tried every kind of antidepressent, stimulant, etc from mainstream doctors. Nothing helps. We are hoping something in the Cannabis family will help. Any thoughts will be appreciated!

  • what is the dosage you are doing per day, at what time in milligrams?

You better than anyone as a parent knows that for autism there is no one treatment that works best. The literature for autism seems to indicate cannabis is most helpful for aspects of autism like reducing harmful aggression and anxiety.

  • Thanks for replying. Its very kind if you to reply with your busy schedule.

I dont have any set mgs I give per day. He takes between 6 to 10 drops of each bottle (I sent a picture of 2 tincture bottles) every 45 minutes to 1 1\2 hours, as needed. He isnt aggressive, only anxiety issues. He is Asperger and is more high functioning but with alot of fears. He just wants to feel more normal. We are new to Cannabis and feel very stupid on the subject, So please bear with us doctor. Thanks!

  • Current literature shows doses from around 25mg-300 mg per day of CBD helping with anxiety without significant adverse effects.  Make sure you attempt different mg doses and see if that changes everything. You may need to search for a different bottle than what you have - each dropper only has about 10 mg if the bottle contains 300 total.
